The YouTube user going by the name “newmannoah” (Mike Norman) who had apparently hoped that exposing secret Mormon temple ceremony practices would have hurt Mitt Romney’s chance at the presidency, has promised to record a new video this month.
Norman’s video, titled “BEHIND THE VEIL: Never-Before-Seen Footage of Secret Mormon Temple Rituals,” apparently got mainstream attention and angered Latter-day Saints church members when it was published on Andrew Sullivan’s website. The political commentator thought the public deserved to know about the secret ceremonies that Romney and his ancestors have purportedly participated in — finding it difficult that he would be able to separate his faith from his public office.
Norman’s video has attracted more than one million views since it was posted in Oct. 2011.
On Friday evening, Jan. 4, the former Mormon perhaps with an axe to grind promised that another secret video would be forthcoming, and dared the LDS church to stop him.
“Dear Elohim of Kolob,” Norman wrote. “I will be recording more video in one of your Mormon temples in Utah on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013. If you are an all-powerful, all-knowing God, prevent this from happening. If you are a creation of Joseph Smith’s sick mind, do nothing.”
Singing off “sincerely” with his real name, Norman adds a postscript: “Should I narrow it down for you? It’ll be either Bountiful, Salt Lake, Draper or the Jordan River temple. $1,000 says you can do NOTHING to stop me. Go screw yourself & your teenage wives. LOL”
It is surprising that nothing much has happened to Norman, such as a lawsuit, since his video of secret Mormon temple rituals was made public. Besides chastising him for violating what Mormons hold sacred, the Utah resident has been left to apparently keep making videos.
As for the Oct. 2011 video, it is startling to see that secret handshakes and “tokens” (passwords) Mormons teach are needed to enter heaven…through a veil. Furthermore, Mormons apparently still teach that their god, Elohim, lives in outer space and dispatched Jehovah and the angel Gabriel to create man on Earth. For this reason alone (although there are many, many others), it is very troubling that some Christians were willing to embrace and promote for president a man who openly belongs to a theological cult — which begs the question still: if Romney had been an open Moonie, Jehovah’s Witness, or Scientologist, would folks like Franklin Graham have accepted him, a man who lives by the doctrines of demons?
