John Piper Thinks Joel Osteen, TD Jakes, Joyce Meyers Are ‘False Teachers?’

John Piper of Desiring Ministries apparently agrees with Christian rapper Shai Linne about popular “prosperity” pastors like Joel Osteen, T.D. Jakes and Joyce Meyers being “false teachers”. Or perhaps Piper never even listened to the song in which these Christian preachers are called out as such?

The Jesus Musik blog from the Houston Chronicle reports:

On Friday afternoon shai linne, the Christian rapper most associated with the “lyrical theology” movement, released a song accusing Lakewood Church’s Joel Osteen (and other megachurch pastors like Creflo Dollar, Benny Hinn, T.D. Jakes, Joyce Meyer, and others) of being false teachers.

After Shai Linne appeared in a video explaining his purpose with the song “Fal$e Teacher$”, Jesus Musik reports that “every reformed rapper’s favorite pastor (John Piper) Tweeted his compliments to shai linne about the song’s explanation and included a link to an article on The Wade-O Radio website with additional insight from the MC about his motivation behind “Fal$e Teacher$.”

The tweet from Piper read: “My, my, Shai, this is good. Seven-minute video on why Shai Linne wrote and raps “FAL$E TEACHER$”.

As stated on the Jesus Musik blog, John Piper, tends to be popular with the Reformed community, notably among African-American males who adhere to this particular Christian theology. Piper has appeared at many urban ministry events that appear to be organized for outreach to the African-American community, and has appeared alongside Grammy Award-winning rapper LeCrae on the program bill for some of these conferences.

Apparently Piper likes to support his young African-American Reformed brothers. But did he listen to Shai Linne’s song, or is Piper only appearing to agree with the rapper’s calling out T.D. Jakes, Joel Osteen, Paula White, Creflo Dollar, Paula White, Juanita Bynum and others as FALSE TEACHERS?

The song, a report and the video explanation from Shai Linne can be found at WadeORadio.com.

“And shall deceive many”….These words spoken by Christ are so true when I see people who are being deceived by false teachers who love to teach prosperity….and avoid teaching about Jesus, Sin, and Hell

Most certainly. Here is Piper’s stance on the horrifying ramifications of the Prosperity Gospel: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTc_FoELt8s

And The Christian Post’s response: http://www.christianpost.com/news/john-piper-praises-rapper-of-controversial-fale-teacher-song-93553/

If you’re familiar with Piper’s books, it should not surprise you that Piper would agree with linne about the prosperity gospel or these particular proponents of it.

I’m pretty sure John took a listen. He’s not opposed to hip hop at all and has had several rappers to his church in MN, including Curtis “Voice” Allen

I’m certain he listened to it… unless you’re suggesting that he provided a link (in his tweet) to something he was completely ignorant of… in which case, you really don’t know much about whom you blog about. But you’re sharper than that, u gotta be… or you’re guilty of the very thing you’re accusing Piper of.

So you think Mr. Piper listened to the song, and not just the video from Shai Linne explaining why he prosperity teachings are unbiblical?
